Everything you need to know about how Fantasy FID works — how points are earned, how to pick a squad, and what's going on with the betting game. Worth a read before your first gameweek.
Fantasy FID is built on real player data and results from Football Identity (FID). You build a squad of 15 real FID players within a £120m budget, pick a Starting XI each gameweek, and earn points based on how those players genuinely perform in their real matches.
Your squad needs at least 1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 forwards (the remaining 4 places are unrestricted), with a maximum of 3 players from any one club. Pick a formation for your Starting XI from the Pitch panel (4-2-2, 4-3-3, 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 5-3-2, 5-4-1 or 4-5-1 — always 1 GK), with the rest of your squad as bench cover. Switching formation never costs points, but it's still a team edit, so it follows the same allowed days as transfers below. You also pick a captain (and a vice-captain as backup) — whoever it is, their points are counted twice, so choose someone reliable. Once a month you can also activate Triple Captain from the Pitch panel, which makes their points count three times for that gameweek instead of two.
Team changes (transfers and Starting XI swaps) are only allowed on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday — Wednesday and Sunday are locked so nobody can react to mid-round results. You get 8 free transfers before each gameweek; any extra transfer beyond that costs 4 points off your total.
Points build up live as real matches happen throughout the week. Once a gameweek ends — every Monday at 05:00 UTC (that's 05:00 UK time in winter, 06:00 during British Summer Time, since the rollover runs on a fixed UTC schedule) — the site totals up everything your Starting XI earned, adds it to your running season total on the Leaderboard, and then resets everyone's points to zero so the next gameweek starts fresh. It's this reset-and-bank process that's called the "rollover."
One fairness rule worth knowing: if you transfer a player in after they've already scored points that gameweek, you won't get credit for points they scored before they joined your squad — only what they earn from that point onwards counts for you. So there's no benefit to signing "Sunday's hero" on the Monday after the fact.
Every player earns a base 2 points just for appearing. On top of that:
| Action | Points |
|---|---|
| Goal (goalkeeper) | +10 |
| Goal (defender) | +6 |
| Goal (midfielder) | +5 |
| Goal (forward) | +4 |
| Assist | +3 |
| Clean sheet (GK or DEF) | +4 |
| Clean sheet (MID) | +1 |
| Penalty saved | +5 |
| Shot on target, tackle, dribble, interception, save, deflection | +1 each |
| Recovery, duel won | +1 each |
| Busy game bonus (for each of: 3+ shots, 3+ shots on target, 3+ tackles, 3+ dribbles won, 3+ interceptions) | +2 each |
| Genuinely involved passing game | +2 |
| Goals conceded while on the pitch, every 2 (goalkeeper/defender only) | −1 |
| Foul conceded | −1 |
| Yellow card | −2 |
| Red card | −4 |
Forwards don't score for clean sheets, and passing isn't paid per-pass — it's a single bonus for players who were genuinely involved in build-up play, so ball circulation can't out-earn actually doing things on the pitch. The busy game bonus isn't a single one-off +2 either — each of those five categories is checked independently, so a genuinely busy performance (say, 3+ tackles and 3+ interceptions) banks +2 for each one it clears. The goals-conceded penalty mirrors the clean sheet bonus in reverse: only goalkeepers and defenders are docked for a heavy defeat, since midfielders and forwards aren't being scored on their defensive record either way.
Not really — the game already accounts for this. When a club can't field enough real human players, bots fill the gaps, and matches like that get one-sided in a way that doesn't reflect genuine footballing quality. So while a player's raw match stats (goals, assists, tackles etc.) always show the true, unadjusted record of what happened, the fantasy points that actually count toward your squad's score are automatically scaled down based on how human the opposition genuinely was. The scaling isn't a straight percentage cut either — it gets disproportionately harsher the more bot-filled the opponent is, dropping as low as 1% of face value against a fully (or almost fully) bot-filled side.
In other words: a player who racks up a hat-trick against a bot-heavy team won't bank anywhere near the fantasy points that scoreline suggests. Chasing stat-padders from weak fixtures isn't the shortcut it looks like.
That's not a display glitch — it's a bot marker. FID renders bot-controlled players with an exaggerated big-head look, so at a glance you can tell which players in a matchup were genuinely human and which were AI-controlled stand-ins.
It's a bit of fun, completely separate from your real £120m squad budget. Every team starts with 500 fake credits, and on the Next Games page you can back a Home win, Draw or Away win on any upcoming fixture at the odds shown. Enter a stake and you'll see a live projected profit before you confirm — win, and you get your stake back plus profit; lose, and the stake's gone. None of it touches your real squad or your Leaderboard ranking, and your current balance and bet history are always visible from the same page.
Every Monday at 05:00 UTC — 05:00 UK time in winter, 06:00 during British Summer Time, since the schedule runs on fixed UTC rather than shifting with the clocks. That's when the current gameweek's points get totalled up and banked to the Leaderboard, and everyone's points reset to zero for the new gameweek.
